US, counter-duties from Europe after Trump's announcement? No from FdI: "Negotiation remains the best way"

Mark Osnato
"In my opinion, until there are definitive decisions, negotiation is the best way forward ." With these words Marco Osnato, economic manager of Fratelli d'Italia and president of the Finance Commission of the Chamber , questioned by Affaritaliani.it , answers the question of whether, after the announcement of 50% duties against the European Union, because there is no agreement, by the President of the United States Donald Trump, the European Union should continue the dialogue or respond immediately or in any case quickly with counter-duties against the USA.
"Of course - adds the FdI representative -, the United States and the European Commission must try to speak the same language , something that so far does not seem to have been particularly successful". And when asked if the Italian government and in particular the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni can play the role of 'bridge' between Washington and Brussels, Osnato responds: " The Italian government will certainly do everything possible to ensure that the dialogue between the two sides of the Atlantic Ocean remains open ".
